Dell Fun

Well my Dell XPS laptop has been back to Dell once now and it is headed in again today. The unit has now had three internal network cards and still it is flakey. The first time I sent it in they were supposed to really look at it but basically just replaced the wireless card again and sent it back. Of course this did not work so here we go again.

Not sure how many hours I have spend on the phone talking to India but certainly enogh to tell you that the tech industry is really letting us down by sending all their phone support overseas. I have heard from many friends who have dreaded calling tech support because they know they will get someone in India. It is not that they are not "nice" but they seem to have a hard time understanding what you are telling them and tend to not stray to far from the script.

The biggest problems seems to be.... the incentive program that seems to pay them more if they do not send out parts or call in the unit for repair. They will do anything possible to not do that it seems. Each time I called in they wanted to run tests and each time they were the same. After a while I got tired of this and told them to send me something or tell me how to buy it. Is this something that others are facing.

My guess is this will not change since all the tech companies seem to be doing this. It would be refreshing to have one company keep the support in North America and really help people. Dell for one seems more interested in frustrating people by long hold times and saying they want to help but in the end not doing anything for you.

Well I rant on.. It has been a long time since I posted mostly bacuase of dealing with Dell and a few other problems.
